February and a recipe

What a success last night was! It's even inspired me to have a little blog renovation and list some of our wonderful friends (with blogs) in the side-bar.

Alphabet City proved to be an amazing venue with free parking, great lighting, a huge table and very friendly hosts.  We had such a great time that Erin and Moira invited us to return next month, and so it seems that Lucky Penny has a new home. Here we all are sitting around that wonderful table (bar me, the photographer). There were so many talented people around that table: quilters, knitters, sewers, creative people who were keen to share ideas, books, fabrics, yarn, you name it.  Come and join us next time for a drink and a chat and you're bound to make some really nice new friends too!

There was brownie too, and just in case you'd like to make it too, here's the recipe.  It's my favourite: so easy and made with everyday baking ingredients; you don't even need chocolate.

Basic and speedy brownie (Donna Hay, Off the shelf)

Mix these together in food processor:
250g melted butter
1 1/3 c sifted flour
2 1/4c sugar
3/4c sifted cocoa powder
4 eggs
1/4 t baking powder
1 t vanilla essence

Pour into lined 20cm square cake tin and bake at 170 C for 50 min.

February already!

Happy 2012 to you! Ok, it's not so new any more, but I'm still on school holiday time... Not so sure if I'm lucky or not!

It's time for Lucky Penny next Tuesday, and I'm so excited about where we're having it. The lovely Erin and Moira from Alphabet City have invited us round for a little social gathering at 71 Mt Eden Rd, Eden Terrace. Erin and Moira are passionate about zines, the printed and written word, publishing and heaps more.  They run classes and workshops too, and I hear their Letter Writing Club is very popular.

I hope to see you there, whether you've been before or not; it will be great to start the year off on such a high note! I'll bring some baking and you're welcome to bring something along too, but don't go overboard now ladies! As we said over on Facebook today, Lucky Penny is not the type of club to give you homework :)  It's a show and tell though, so bring your craft books/projects/fabric/tools/whatever you've done over the holidays.

So: 7.30pm at Alphabet City, address above.  We'll return to Mezze next month as usual.
See you there x

December Lucky Penny

Just a reminder before the weekend of the last Lucky Penny for the year on Tuesday night.  As usual, we're in the back of Mezze bar in Durham Lane, 7.30. Hope to see you there for a coffee, wine some cake and maybe even a bit of crafting!

There won't be a Lucky Penny catch-up in January, remember, because we will all be on HOLIDAY!

November

It's the first Tue of November and Lucky Penny is on tonight! Same place, same time: 7.30 at Mezze Bar on Durham Lane in the city.  See you later :)

Lucky Penny October

Hi Everybody!  (Hi Dr. Nick!)

Uh, ok, sorry I couldn't resist that (Simpsons nerd).
Anyway this is just a quick lil post to say that Lucky Penny October is next Tuesday! I just can't believe that this month has come around so quickly. And with daylight savings, it is just beginning to feel like summer could be around the corner. So, LP is on at the usual Mezze Bar from 7.30pm onwards this Tuesday!

This is going to be a bit of a sad Lucky Penny for me as I'm going to be moving across the ditch to Melbourne at the end of October, so please say hello!  Or good bye!  Anyway I'm going to be doing a bit of a ruthless-sort-out of my craft supplies before I go, which means I will be giving away crafty things and the Lucky-Penny-ers get first dibs.

Hope to see you there!

See y'all there!
